For most of our smaller clients we provide reviews or compilations of their financial statements when an audit is not warranted. Reviews and compilations are less in scope then an audit, but still provide financial statements that are the representation of management and, in some cases, include some analysis. We perform reviews and compilations in accordance with Statements of Standards for Accounting and Review Services (SSARS) issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). A compilation is the lesser of the two when it comes to assurance. A compilation is limited to presenting in the form of financial statements information that is the representation of management. A review goes one step further and actually requires us to make certain inquires to company personnel, as well as perform analytical procedures to financial data provided. Both reviews and compilations can be performed under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or any Other Comprehensive Basis of Accounting (OCBOA), including cash or income tax base financial statements. We aid our clients in determining the appropriate level of assurance that is necessary for their businesses.
